T5W#533-Top 5 Otakon 2025 Cosplays

Well folks Halloween is only a couple of days away and you know the Top 5 I usually save for just this occasion.  Last week, we took a look at the best cosplays I saw at Katsucon 2025.  Today, we’re looking at the best standouts from Otakon 2025.  It was the year where Kpop Demon Hunters and Apothecary Diaries took the convention cosplay scene by storm in some of the biggest photoshoot turnouts I’ve ever seen.  And yet in that sea, some real gems shined and I’m spotlighting them on todays’ Top 5 Wednesday as I count down the Top 5 Otakon 2025 Cosplays.  As always, if I know the cosplayers in question, I’ll let you know where you can find more of their cosplay works.

 
#5-Goto, Kanuka and Sakaki (Mobile Police Patlabor)

A rare Patlabor Cosplay appears, three of them to be exact.  It’s actually funny these three dawned these cosplays considering Patlabor was a major feature at Otakon’s Mecha Kaikan exhibit at the front of the convention center.  Here, we have the lazy but exceptionally good at his job Goto; the beautiful no nonsense Kanuka; and cantankerous mecha chief Sasaki making me stop to grab a photo just before I left the Dealers Room once more.  I always have to give a special shoutout to the rare cosplays from Anime you hardly ever see cosplayed at cons anymore.

 
#4-The Shredder (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Yo, this armor build is super legit.  This guy looks even cooler and more intimidating than the Shredder from the 2014 Ninja Turtles movie and I dare say just as bad ass as the classic 1990’s movie.  Yeah this look hues closer to the cartoon and I think I love it more for that.  All the sharp claws look super cool as well.  This is a Shredder I can see kicking all four Turtles asses and yes, it’s a rare case where I wouldn’t mind seeing the bad guy win.

 
#3-Lucifer (Hazbin Hotel)

From the make up to the wings, this take on Charlie Morningstar’s put upon Dad easily stood out in the sea of cosplays at Otakon.  It actually impressed me so much that I offered to do a photoshoot for Cub Cosplay later that Friday.  Not only was it a fun experience for me but getting to see this cosplay outside as the sun was starting to go down only highlighted just how spot on it was.  Equal parts angelic and demonic, this cosplay just downright amazing to look at.  Cub Cosplay really did a great job bringing Lucifer to life.

#2-Super Sexy Harry Potter (Harry Potter)

I love it when my friends get crazy ideas like these.  I’m not even sure this grouping had an official name.  I went with either Gender Bend Harry Potter or Rule 34 Harry Potter but Super Sexy Harry Potter probably sells it best.  Sexy Dementors, a Sexy Dumbledore (I loved Cupcake Kisses’ beard, it reminds me of an 80s fantasy wizard), a bad ass Harry Potter, an Umbridge who’s cuter than the real deal and Voldermort, holy crap I cant believe how awesome the nose make up looked on Make Pretender.  Like with Cub Cosplay, I got to do some photoshooting with this group too and everyone was a true diva.  I just had to group these guys together for this slot, this is cosplay at its most fun.

#1-Gensect (Pokemon)

The first time I laid eyes on this one was at the Mecha Kaikan exhibit and I swear it was a Gundam Mobile Armor I’d never seen before.  Nope.  Low and behold this is a Pokemon I’ve never heard of but screw it, this is a Pokemon Mecha to me.  I mean look at it?  This is something I could see blasting Mobile Suits left right and center with how ferocious and dangerous it looks (I mean do you not see that cannon on it’s head?).  Er, ahem, so yes this is a Pokemon cosplay and I think I just found one of my newest all time favorite Pokemon of all time.  If I haven’t made it clear, THIS IS A POKEMON MECHA!!! How could it not take my top spot this year?
