It’s that time of year again folks. And while Halloween may be just around the
corner, for Cosplayers, every day and every opportunity is a chance to give the
Holiday the spotlight. As is tradition
here at the Gundam Anime Corner, this is the time of year I look back at my two
biggest conventions of the year and sift through a sea of neverending options
to pick my favorites from each major con.
It’s never easy and this year for Otakon and Katsucon, it was no
different. Katsu continues to be one of
the major Cosplay centers of the East Coast Con scene and it’s where some of
the best cosplayers in the world bring out their best. Suffice to say, tough calls as always but
still, here are my Top 5 Katsucon 2025 Cosplays. As always, if I know the cosplayers or follow
them on social media, I’ll link them in their entries below.
#5-The Judge (Final Fantasy XII) Late last year I finished my first playthrough of Final Fantasy
XII and enjoyed it for the most part…when it came to the combat.
But even before I decided to give the game a
try, the Judges always stood out to me.
Frak they’re on most of the promo art and covers for crying out
loud.
Seeing one out on the Gaylord
floors looking legit and not to be messed with was quite the sight.
I love that the cosplayer was nice enough to
recreate that famous promo cover pose for me too.
#4-Ninja Bob and Linda (Bobs Burgers)
You know, I’m surprised Bobs Burgers hasn’t done an
episode where the Belcher’s go to a Convention (and if they have please let me
know so I can see what insanity unfolds).
If Bob and Linda we’re gonna try and blend in, I could see them trying
to cosplay one of the more popular titles they could find on short notice.
This happy couple perfectly nails the
excitement and awkwardness of the Belcher patriarchs, with that trademark Bob
wide eyed stare and Linda’s infectious attitude.
Bobs Burgers Ninja’s is a must Fox, make it
happen.
#3-Chilly Down (Labyrinth)
I had to do a double take when I saw this hopping across
the dance floor at the Fountains: one of the Fire Gang from the 80s fantasy
legend, Labyrinth.
Their maker wore an
all black outfit to better the appearance of the piece moving on its own and it
stole the show around everyone they came across.
Complete with a detachable head that was
bobbing all over the place, it was getting dance requests from everyone around
them, including yours truly.
Def had David
Bowie’s Chilly Down banging around in my head for a little bit after laying
eyes on this masterwork straight out of Jim Henson’s beloved classic.
#2-Team Gundam Wing (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing &
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz)
#1-Princess Mars by Relialakedaemon (Sailor Moon)
In all the years I’ve been going to cons, only a handful
of Cosplays have left me at a loss for words in the best possible ways.
THIS Sailor Mars from Relialakedaemon is one
of them.
The moment I ran into her at
the Sailor Moon Photoshoot she was co leading, I suddenly lost the ability to
put words together.
Not only is she
cosplaying my favorite Sailor Senshi but the dress is absolutely stunning,
embodying Rei Hino’s fire and elegance in one helluva knockout number.
This is a dress that steals everyones attention
and shows off Sailor Mars for the Queen she is.
This is definitely one of the best Sailor Moon cosplays I’ve ever seen
and one of the best from this amazing cosplyer.
