When a dark winged horse begins terrorizing the city, the
Sailor Senshi must contend with the idea that their guardian Pegasus has
suddenly become their enemy. But
Chibiusa, whose connection to Pegasus remains a secret, refuses to believe it
and will stop at nothing to prove his innocence. Is this all part of a new series of ploys by
the Dead Moon Circus to lure out the illusive creature? Even if this plot fails, many other pure
hearted souls are still at risk of attack.
With the fight getting more and more challenging, it might be time for
Pegasus to bestow his gifts upon the rest of the Sailor Senshi and unlock their
Super forms.
Believe it or not, this review marks the halfway point of
Sailor Moon SuperS.
And just what has
changed since the Season Premiere…almost absolutely NOTHING!!!
Chibiusa’s connection to Pegasus is still
being kept a secret.
The Amazon Trio are
still trying and failing to find him.
And no one wants to start actually looking into this new enemy force
that keeps popping up and sticking their heads into dream mirrors in the most
invasion like fashion.
And the worst
part about all of this…I think it’s actually getting worse.
How is this Season even worse than the rumors
I’ve heard from the fandom?
I guess
that’s because I’m experiencing them for myself and it is just painful to watch
Sailor Moon suffer this badly.
While most of this set of episodes follows the same wash,
rinse, repeat storylines, SuperS is still finding ways to make repetitive
watching super cringy.
If you’ve been
following my Sailor Moon reviews you’ll know that Minako is, in my sad but
honest opinion, the least developed of the Sailor Senshi.
She just doesn’t have the same draw or
presence like the others.
She’s pretty
for sure but so are Usagi, Rei, Ami and Makoto.
And in this set of episodes…she’s actually trying to date two guys at
once AND they just so happen to be Tiger’s Eye and Hawk’s Eye…and she seen
nothing wrong wit this at all.
Minako
can be a bit…well aloof but even this is pushing it for her.
And you know you’ve done messed up when even
I have to agree with the Amazon Trio about being two faced.
That’s ok because Fish’s Eye rebalances the
scales with probably the most vomit inducing plot of the Season…to seduce a
young soccer prodigy from Chibiusa’s class despite the fact that he’s what…6 or
7 and Fish’s Eye is much, much older.
Even
his teammates are appalled at this sick and twisted idea to find the dream of a
pure hearted soul.
I guess what I’m
saying is F*** THE AMAZON TRIO AND THIS SEASON FOR GIVING US THIS KIND OF TRASH
IN SAILOR MOON!!!!!!
Ahem, sorry but
I’ve been holding that in for several reviews now.
The middle of this set actually attempts to gain some
headway in the Pegasus storyline but in the end, nothing is really gained
besides the Senshi getting new power ups and even that feels like an
afterthought.
Maybe it’s just me but
it’s hard to tell that Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus even got an upgrade, at
least compared to Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon.
They get longer sashes in the back of their
skirts but that’s about it.
Also,
besides Moon and Chibi Moon, only Venus has gained a new attack: the Crescent
Beam Barrage, and this is before she gets her Super upgrade too.
Mako, Ami and Rei have all gotten
individually focused episodes so why aren’t they breaking out any new attacks
yet?
Like I said though, everyone
getting a Super form feels half assed like everything else so far in
SuperS.
Honestly, when Artemis suddenly
spoke up about trying to find out more about Pegasus and the Dead Moon Circus,
I was irked.
Almost 20 episodes in and
no one is giving two thoughts about these dream invading sickos…so why start
now?
If I had to find ONE thing I did like about this set, it
was the beach episode.
As always, the
girls look nice but really it was the Ami and Shingo storyline that was a nice
addition to an otherwise sour season.
While I do feel like it comes out of nowhere (par for the course with
SuperS), I like that Shingo’s crush on Ami never exceeded comfortable
levels.
He just really likes her and
doesn’t try to push things.
This is
probably some of the best development Shingo has gotten in a long time on this
show and he even got to step up and defend the girls from would be suitors and
Ami from Tiger’s Eye before the Senshi showed up. Also seeing Tiger’s Eye
totally fail at seducing Ami was fun.
It
was an overall cute episode that didn’t feel annoying or out of place with the
rest of Sailor Moon (save for the uncomfortable villans).
Even the Monster of the Week was weirdly
entertaining.
But yeah, a fun beach episode isn’t enough to sway my
opinion that Sailor Moon SuperS is being a colossal waste of time.
The Amazon Trio’s menace comes less from
their battle plans and more from how uncomfortable they can be as lecherous
creeps.
No one is bothering to question
Chibiusa about her connection to Pegasus and just feels content with enjoying
everyday life rather than dealing with the threat at hand before enjoying
everyday life.
Ugh, we’re halfway done
with this season and there’s still…oh God 20 episodes left.
Please, Please, PLEASE let Sailor Stars be
worth this gauntlet of pain.
Anyway, the
suffering continues Friday with more Sailor Moon SuperS right here at the
Gundam Anime Corner.
Pray for me.
