Netflix surprised the heck out of me this Labor Day
weekend. Not only did we get the highly
anticipated streaming drop of the hit Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom, we also got
complete drops of both Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny TV Series, their HD
versions no less. This was a bit of a shock
but I guess now that Netflix has dibs on Gundam content outside of Crunchyroll,
they figured why not go the extra mile and give fans the complete SEED
experience (except for CE 73 Stargazer it seems). It’s a chance for fans of any kind to revisit
this pivotal era in Gundams history and discover or rediscover its collection of
incredibly gorgeous ladies who can do the job just as well as the boys if not
better. So, todays Top 5 Wednesday is a
shoutout to the Top 5 Hottest Ladies in Gundam Seed’s Cosmic Era.
Full disclosure: If you remember my review of Gundam SEED
Destiny back in 2020, I am not Lunamaria’s biggest fan. Her character is basically around to enable
Shinn Asuka to continue being a war criminal without recognizing that he is for
the sake of, idk hooking up with him.
HOWEVER, I wont ignore that Luna is one of the hottest characters in
SEED Destiny, rocking the ZAFT Uniform with a miniskirt and thigh highs that
supply ample amounts of fan service.
Luna can be a good character and she kind of is in SEED Freedom. She does have solid good looks though, which
is more than I can say for other flawed Cosmic Era beauties like Flay Aslter.
#4-Selene McGriff (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED CE 73 Stargazer)
While she is exclusive only to this criminally short ONA (the
first ever for the franchise), Selene is a far cry from many of the ladies of
the Cosmic Era. As a scientist first and
foremost, Selene isnt blind to the conflict raging during the events of Gundam
SEED Destiny, but her focus remains on Project Stargazer and the hopes it can
bring when the fighting stops. Selene’s
such a gentle and kind person. And yes,
she is stunningly beautiful. How anyone
can focus on building one of the coolest looking Gundams when she’s in the room
managing things is a feat in and of itself.
If SEED Freedom’s success means we’ll be checking back in on the Cosmic
Era more frequently, maybe Selene can return as well.
#3-Natarle Badgeruel (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED)
During SEEDs run, Natarle is the no nonsense second in command
of the Archangel. She may butt heads
constantly with Murrue Ramius over combat decisions and prefers to stay by the
book in most situations. Despite this
though, Natarle is a tragic beauty in constant battle with her heart and her
military training. The girls got heart
and does come through in a clutch despite any hesitancies she might have. And much like her superior officer we’ll get
to momentarily, it’s hard not to stare at this sexy as hell woman in
uniform.
#2-Lacus Clyne (Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny)
While she starts out looking like a Disney inspired
Princess, Lacus quickly evolves both in character and in style during the SEED
saga. From Pop Idol to Military Goddess
to Political Figure head, Lacus is a girl who can do it all. When I think of how hot she is throughout
this time of Gundam, my mind goes right to Gundam SEED Destiny and her command
outfit that’s essentially a little black dress with a regal white coat. Girls got legs for days and they are on full
display on the bridge. Lacus’ body
double, Meer Campbell, would use these assets to garner huge fans while failing
to capture Athrun’s heart in SEED Destiny.
Like I said though, Lacus can do any role in the SEED Universe and Kira’s
lucky to have such a beauty as his girlfriend.
I fell for Murrue the second I saw her in the Earth
Alliance Uniform. She’s very easy on the
eyes but past that, she’s one of the most effective and bad ass Captains in the
entire franchise. Like I said, she and
Natarle often butt heads about how to handle combat situations but Murrue isnt
as ineffective as her CO might think sometimes.
Murrue’s a brilliant tactician who can weather any storm and never loses
faith in her crewmates, especially her surrogate little brother Kira. She can be stern when needed but never loses
her heart to the chaos of war. Also, her
last name is an homage to Sean Connery’s Captain Marko Ramius from The Hunt for
Red October, which is one of my all time favorite movies. So naturally she can command a ship like no
other and look damn fine doing so.
