T5W#382-Top 5 Hottest Waifus of 2022

The battle of who is Best Waifu is forever and eternal.  Every year there always manages to be one or two who remains so high in the zeigiest that they eclipse any and all challengers for the title.  2022, however, had a really strong showing of candidates, giving us at least one or two girls a season to drool and fawn over and eagerly await the hundreds of cosplayers ready to tackle them at any given time.  It’s been a minute since I’ve done some Waifu shoutouts so as we head into the last weeks of 2022, I’m gonna use todays Top 5 Wednesday to count down my Top 5 Hottest Waifus of 2022.  There will be a little tinkering here and there as one entry saw a particular Waifu enter the fray close to the end of 2021 and one character had their second season debut in 2022.  It’s hard to ignore their popularity though, both within the fandom and for me in particular, so yeah, I’ll make a couple of exceptions.  Onto the list.

 
#5-Daki (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba-Entertainment District Arc)

Right off the bat, this Demon Goddess technically first appeared in the final weeks of 2021 but she continued to have a strong show of skill, ferocity and undeniable hotness as the Entertainment District Arc wrapped up in early 2022.  While she looks truly terrifying as the proprieter of her own establishment in her secret identity, Daki stands out in her true demonic form: pale white skin, a very revealing and incredibly sexy outfit and the ability to seduce and eliminate targets simultaneously.  She wasn’t a pushover either as Daki was around for the main fights of the second half of Season Two right up til her end.  Demon Slayer has no shortage of bewildering beauties but the bad girls bar has been set pretty high by Daki.
 

#4-Komi Shuko (Komi Can’t Communicate)

Like Daki, Komi made her first big splash in 2021 but the Second Season of Komi Can’t Communicate dropped in Spring 2022 so I’m counting her on this list.  I love the way the show handles Komi’s social phobias, treating them both with serious observation with a little bit of humor a poor Komi’s expense.  Komi can make any guys (or girls) hearts melt with her effortless and soothing stares while also being incredibly adorable and cute when she goes all wide eyed with cat ears poking out on her head.  It’s easy to fall head over heels for this amazing pilar of grace and elegance but more so, you really just wanna be one of her 100 friends, especially after learning why Komi is how she is.  Even if it’s unintentional, any day with Komi is a fun adventure.
 

#3-Suletta Mercury & Miorine Rembran (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury)

I debated putting these two together but it’s hard to pick one and ignore the other, especially considering the benchmarks they’ve set.  Suletta and Miorine are two of the first primary female protagonists in a Gundam series, Suletta herself being the debut Gundam pilot of the series.  Both are total opposites but its easy to see why they work.  Miorine is more refined and blunt with her opinions but has a good heart while Suletta can has social anxiety that rivals the aforementioned Komi Shuko but helps others see different perspectives on life.  Also, theyre undeniable cute individually and together on screen.  I want to see this relationship gain more traction and become more of a full blown romance.  Also I cant be the only one thinking Suletta and Miorine are the Utena and Anthy of the Gundam franchise, right?
 

#2-Marin Kitagawa (My Dress Up Darling)

Marin is the girl we all dream is out there in real life.  She’s not only a beauty of a divine level, Marin is also kind, spontaneous, a huge source of optimism and wide eyed wonder.  Marin is basically the perfect friend to have around, if not the ultimate high school crush.  Also her immense love of cosplay and willingness to learn about it is a nice gateway for newcomers and veterans of the craft.  We only got to see her in a few amazing cosplays in Dress Up Darling’s first season, courtesy of Gojo.  Personally though, Marin looks amazing in and out of cosplay, she’s just beautiful no matter what..  She’s just an immense breath of fresh air.  With Marin around, everyday is an adventure and any bad feelings or foul moods you have can be cleared up by her smile and go getter attitude in a matter of minutes.  Basically, we could all use a little Marin Kitagawa in our lives.
 

#1-Yor Forger (Spy X Family)

While Makima and Power from Chainsaw Man might be everyones big flavors of the fall season, there’s no denying who the real Queen of the Waifus is in 2022.  Yor Forger (Briar) has been a super star since her first appearance in Spy X Family.  We all love her seductive and deadly Thorn Princess persona (which we do need more of that outfit btw).  But really, we all love how socially awkward, naieve and sometimes guillible Yor can be in the ways of the world that aren’t about being an assassin.  We love her continued commitment to being Anya’s mom and teaching the tiny psychic how to kick some serious ass.  And hell yes, we love it when Yor’s serious side comes out to play against the hapless fools stupid enough to threaten Yor and her family.  Yor is simply the best and makes everything from dodgeball throws to leaping through the city Spider Woman style look like the sexiest thing ever drawn for Anime.  Plus she was the most cosplayed character at Otakon 2022, seriously, you couldn’t go two steps without running into Thorn Princess.  Most Popular Waifu of 2022 indeed.
