Anime Corner-Fall 2015 Update

(Audio from a BBC trailer and video from Interstalla 5555, Blue Submarine No.6, Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, Galaxy Express 999, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.  All rights and nods go to their respective creators, I do not own any.)

With the Summer of 2015 winding down, it's time to reveal the last batch of reviews for the year.  Lots of action and mystery await and even a couple of new kinds of titles.

September:
We kick things off with a unique kind of Anime musical.  From European techno legends Daft Punk and one of their childhood inspirations, creator Leji Matsumoto comes Interstella 5555: The Secret of the Five Star System, featuring music from Daft Punk’s Discovery album.  Then the Lagoon Company is back for more mayhem, bullets and Revy’s sexy short shorts in Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage

October:
After catching an episode on Crunchyroll, im going to break out the OVA classic, Blue Submarine No.6, featuring cutting edge underwater combat in a mix of 2D and 3D animation.  Following that, it’s a Final Fantasy Double Feature with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

November:
A film series ive wanted to review for a while will finally get it’s time.  Get ready to explore the hectic lives of cops piloting giant robots with the Patlabor Trilogy, from Mamoru Oshii, the director of Ghost in the Shell.  Heading into Thanksgiving it’s a special classic duology from legendary creator Leji Matsumoto with Galaxy Express 999 and it’s sequel, Adieu Galaxy Express 999.

December:
I originally wanted to do this last year but I was unable to get the final volume of this series until very recently.  To close out 2015, we’re taking a look at one of the now completed entries in the Mobile Suit Gundam saga.  Does it live up to the hype or fall short?  We’ll find out as we end the year with Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

Been doing a lot of scifi and mecha Anime in 2015.  Even I think it’s time for a change of pace.  So I’ll be posting some features later on with some ideas of what I should cover: some comedy or romance maybe, or supernatural action?  I’ve got a strong contender in mind but I do want to get some feedback from anyone who might wish to lend their input.  So keep an eye out for titles in mind.

For now, enjoy Anime TV Movie month and look forward to any and all thoughts on the titles ahead.
