Happy New Year Dear Readers. Is it just me or did we make it through 2024
by the skin of our teeth? Maybe it was
me dealing with…well a lot. But, as
always, when the going gets rough, that’s when I turn to the Anime Corner for
comfort and I hope that in the coming year, it can be grown and strengthened as
such. After all, this is my own personal
corner of the universe to chill and talk about Anime, Video Games, how Anime
ties into mainstream Hollywood movies, Conventions, First Impressions, Top 5
Lists, all that jazz. I’ve definitely
got some fun ideas for new features in the coming months and those main events
are still a ways off (and need a lot more prep time). Til then, how about we talk about what is all
set and ready to roll, including, for a change, what’s coming up in March for
the Gundam Anime Corner’s 11th Birthday (11, yikes).
Reviews: The Naughty, the Divine and the Gundam We’re getting right into the thick of it next week as we
kick off one of the raunchiest shows I’ve ever covered (seriously, definitely
some tip toeing on descriptions with this one).
Can one girl save the world from boredom with some sex ed knowledge and
lewd pics?
We’ll find out in January
with
Shimoeta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist.
February is once again the month of love and
we’ll get getting some classic Harem Anime goodness from the Goddesses of
Oh!
My Goddess, right after I finally get to my long awaited review of the next
chapter of the Gundam Saga:
Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.
And as for March?
Well we’ll talk about that in a minute.
Next up in our little preview spree is…
Big Milestones for Top 5 Wednesday and First
Impression Friday
Besides weekly reviews, I also host two other main
features here at the Anime Corner.
Top
5 Wednesday is where I choose a topic and share my main 5 thoughts on the
subject, including upcoming Anime releases, my own personal Anime history and
Convention Highlights.
First
Impression Friday isnt a full review per say but my initial thoughts on a
series that I may or may not cover in the future here, or at least watch in
general.
Both of these blog mainstays
will be hitting major milestones early this year.
Top 5 Wednesday will reach its 500
th
Episode by March or April while First Impression Friday begins its historic 10
th
Season which will include it’s 250
th Episode.
The March to Year 12
March 31, 2025 marks the 11th anniversary of the Gundam
Anime Corner.
Right afterwards, Year 12
begins.
To celebrate the occasion, the
Month of March belongs once again to Hayao Miyazaki…for the most part.
It’s
Miyazaki Month II (did the first
one wayyyy back during the second year of the Anime Corner) featuring
Naussica
of the Valley of the Wind,
Laputa: Castle in the Sky,
Kiki’s
Delivery Service and, breaking the mold a teeny bit,
Tales from Earthsea,
the directorial debut of Miyazaki’s son Goro.
And since we’re sticking with a bit of a fantasy theme with those
selections, the 11
th Anniversary slot on March 31 goes to a more
recent Fantasy Anime adventure from one of my favorite fantasy worlds-
The
Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
And like I said, big surprises and events are planned for
later in the year but we’ll get to those in due time.
