As SOX expands its network of connections to other Dirty
Joke Terrorist Groups, new threats emerge to challenge them. The first are the Prefects led by Oboro
Tsukimigusa, who seeks to eliminate all forms of naughty display no matter how
small (and give Anna the room she needs to be as wild as she wants). Then there’s Gathered Fabric, undergarment
thieves who are starting to give SOX a bad reputation. Oh and SOX has a new member who’s so
determined to make her mark even if it might do damage to SOX. Are Ayame and Tanukuchi in way over their
heads or is it time for the foreplay to end and take their plans to the next
level?
If Shimoneta excels at anything it’s being a world of
anything goes, nothing is ever clean revolution.
While its material can be a little much even
for me, I’m legit enjoying this show a ton and laughing at most of the
absurdity.
The stuff that does make me
cringe uncomfortably is still there (and even gets the explanation I theorized
was the case in my last review) and there’s a new character I just cant bring
myself to like.
Does this mean Shimoneta
is losing steam and that the earlier episodes are the best ones?
Definitely not and let’s break down why.
Three major characters were added to the Dirty Joke War
Board in this set.
The first is Korusi
and she’s easily my least favorite character of the show.
She’s just a pink haired girl who wants
nothing more than to make her mark on the war against decency no matter what
and is a huge SOX fangirl.
Her mean acts
of lewdness don’t add anything new other than making her unlikeable compared to
her fellow members of SOX.
Also she’s
another girl thrown in to make Tanukichi’s Harem scenario more of a living Hell
than it already is.
At least Ayame has
her doubts about Kosuri’s actions and I’m hoping that gets her kicked out of
SOX sooner rather than later.
Then
there’s the way more fun of the three: Oboro Tsukimigusa.
Oh my God the moment they stepped onto the
scene and started removing every single item around the school they deemed
capable of producing naughty thoughts, we had a winner.
And what are they removing?
Basketball hoops, Ping Pong Balls, Volleyball
Nets…so apparently any kind of gym product can get you in the mood?
It’s the kind of absurd brilliance that
Shimoneta does well (and Ayame is impressed too).
And yes, I am referring to Oboro as “They”
because of a certain reveal later in the set that’s both accepting and just as
bonkers as anything else Shimoneta has unleashed but more on that later.
Lastly there’s the head of Gathered Fabric,
White Peak…and he’s barely in this set but he’s disgusting and looks like a
very off brand Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin.
I do like that Ayame is planning on moving her operations
beyond the grounds of her school.
Everything she and SOX have done have basically been a test run for
further missions they can spread throughout the rest of the school system.
There’s genuine promise in this plot though I
wonder how much we’ll see with only three episodes left.
There’s also the added hurdle of the Decency
Squad’s Prefects, led by Tsukimigusa, who are cracking down on all kind of
Dirty Joke Content (save for some surprising exceptions).
It adds more challenge to the SOX crusade,
leading to not just some fun showdowns but Ayame having to be a bit more of a
critical thinker to get passed this obstacle.
For all her uncut dialogue and references, Ayame’s a pretty good
tactician when you get right down to it and her working through the problems
presented is kind of fun to watch…then she tickle tortues Otome for good
measure just to remind us of the perverted megastar she really is.
Speaking of Otome, she and Fuwa continue to be the
standouts in every episode and my favorite characters in the whole show.
Otome’s furious creation of a Yaoi Manga
featuring Tankukichi and Gouriki contain all the high energy of a girl right in
the zone who can draw furiously and efficiently with just a pencil in her
mouth.
She can do more than this and if
anyone in Shimoneta deserves their own spin off side story, it’s Otome.
Not to be outdone, Fuwa got a great
interaction with Tsukimigusa, even showing up to meet them in the way she
usually pops in on Tanukichi when he’s in class.
Fuwa shamelessly shows off her acquired
Tanukichi and Gouriki manga and desperately tried to keep the Prefect from
confiscating it just because it can be used as a study guide for science.
Honestly, if anyone could pull off this feat
and subvert the system, it’s Fuwa, she’s the best.
This does bring us to some inconsistencies with how the
Prefects are supposed to work.
Sure we
see them grabbing and destroying all manner of dirty and naughty material.
But Fuwa exposed certain loopholes and there
is no bigger loophole than the eternally horny Anna.
Remember when I said last time that I
wondered why the Peace Maker System can overlook her continuously lustful
desires and let her be naughty to her hearts content with Tanikichi?
Well, apparently Tsukimigusa is here to be
her personal bodyguard and that means letting Anna do whatever the heck she
wants.
If Tanukichi were to somehow make
an inappropriate move, he’d be arrested.
Anna does it?
Tsukimigusa will
just stand there and watch and not interfere.
And honestly, the more intense and insane Anna gets, the more I don’t
like her.
It’s part her being one note
and some of the lengths she’ll go to get into Tanukichi’s pants (literally) is
super unsettling.
She may very well be
the horniest character I’ve ever seen in an Anime and alone makes a strong case
for why this whole show is just Mainstream Hentai.
Credit where credit is due, I was cracking up
when she make a knife outline around Kosuri so hard it make Kosuri fall into
the apartment below Tanukichi’s, that was hilarious.
With only three episodes left, I doubt we’re going to see
the full culmination of Ayame’s Dirty Joke Society Paradise vision for Japen,
probably just the end of its first phase as it is.
The rest of the series will probably be
focused on taking down Not Shishio and his band of Panty Thieves but I’m not
expecting a ton of resolution overall.
Is this gonna hurt the final score of the show?
We’ll find out Next Monday as we close out January
with the Series Finale of Shimoneta right here at the Gundam Anime Corner.
