When live footage of a Hellsing operation gets leaked
onto the web, Victoria is tasked with tracking down a mole within her own
unit. But Hellsing might have bigger
problems on their plate, aside from their existence possibly being
revealed. A pair of bloodthirsty Vampire
siblings, the Valentine Brothers, launch an all out, surprise attack on the
Hellsing compound itself. With their
base on fire and Integra trapped with Council members on the upper floors, it’s
up to Alucard, Seras and Walter to do a bit of house cleaning. The Valentines are sure they can bring this
bunch to their knees. But in truth, they
just messed with the wrong team of Vampire Hunters.
Can we get a Valentine Brothers spin off? Or to be more exact, can we give Jan
Valentine his own show? It was clear
from the moment they first appeared that these Vampire gangster assassins were
going to steal every single scene they were in, Jan especially. Sorry to just jump right to it without much
intro but the good stuff of this weeks set is too good to not talk about right
away.
I’ll back track a little bit thought to talk about the
episode prior to the V Bros two parter. It
was pretty cool to see Hellsing under the threat of exposure to the world. Sometimes it’s hard to remember they’re not
exactly a public group and their best kept in the shadows to fight the
monsters. I also liked that the leader
of this little crusade was a character we had seen before and probably would
have forgotten as just another almost victim of a Vampire attack. I wish we had delved a bit more into her, or
that she would be would stick around to try and delve more into Hellsing. But I guess it is not to be. I’m sorry Seras didn’t get a chance to cap
that a-hole field commander who was both the mole and an inappropriate pervert
trying to push her buttons. Come on,
Alucard got to drink the reports, maybe Seras would’ve been ok drinking this
douche’s blood. But I digress.
There’s so much fun to be had in the Valentine Bros.
massacre you almost forget it’s not nearly as gruesome as the manga. They do more than make up for this in the
Anime with dozens of quotes from Jan Valentines (I cant think of one nearly
clean enough to post here, even with censors…ill try, just keep reading
incase), and some bad ass moments for almost every character. Alucard not jumping in on the action was kind
of a waste as I keep hoping we’ll see him mow down dozens of demons with his
(now two) guns, including my favorite Anime gun, THE JACKAL. Still, his showdown with Luke Valentine was
creepy and fitting of his character. He
was excited to face someone claiming to be able to kill him…so Alucard let
loose and unleashed nearly all of his full power, resulting in some nightmarish
imagery that scared even a Vampire like Luke.
Integra got to hold her own in a room of stuffy old men and deliver an
amazing declaration that I swear you can hear even if you mute the TV. Walter got to show off his moves with garrote
wire and deliver the devilishly fun line, “Ghouls are fine, but I’ve faced the
true armies of the undead.” And even
Victoria got to let loose her inner Vampire Hulk against her now undead former
comrades. It was a strong week all
across the board.
What sort of fallout will come from this, that’s a good
question. Between the Valentine’s attack
that’s pretty much a declaration of war, and these mysterious Vampire freak
chips creating false Vampires, something big seems to be in the works and
Hellsing is unable to see it coming.
They got his hard, God only knows what their overall loss count was for
this battle. But you better believe I
had a certain line from X-Men running through my head when Alucard, Seras and
Walter go into action and even when Integra shot up Jan, “I feel a great swell
of pity for the poor soul who comes to that school…looking for trouble.”
The Valentines may have dealt a serious blow to Hellsing
but it was a bloody brilliant and fun battle while it lasted. See ya next week for more Hellsing.
