Naoto Hachiouji prefers a life of solitude: keeping to
himself and drawing Manga. But when a
precocious underclassmen named Hayase Nagatoro discovers Hachiouji’s talents,
her secret obsession with her Senpai jumps to a whole new level. Driven to the point of tears by her constant
teasing, Hachiouji now finds his life becoming a living Hell as Nagatoro steps
up her sadistic torment of the poor Otaku.
They say all’s fair in love and war.
But no one has had to face off against the indomitable force of nature
that is Ms. Nagatoro.
Today’s FIF has been on my radar for a while now.
Even before I loaded up the first episode, I
already knew who Nagatoro was thanks to the overabundance of memes and gifs on
the internet.
There have been plenty of
Anime girls like her in the past, ones who thrive on chaos and making the lives
of everyone around them miserable for their own amusement.
And then there’s Nagatoro, the one who
allegedly puts all before her to shame…and holy crap they were right.
It’s been a long time since a hellraiser like this one
has dominated much of the Anime scene.
And while Nagatoro’s introduction starts off a bit tame, it doesn’t take
long for her to live to her mentally abusive reputation.
The more she taunts poor Naoto the more I
feel for the poor guy cause this girl is more than relentless, she’s borderline
psychotic.
Don’t let the cute girl
design fool you.
One close up of her
face says all you need to know: Nagatoro is the ultimate school girl Hell Spawn
and she’s gonna enjoy every minute of belittling and teasing…no wonder she’s so
popular with the Anime crowd.
Poor Naoto.
The
dude could have literally chosen to go and study somewhere else rather than
force himself to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What’s worse for him is Nagatoro isnt a loner
like him, she seems to be part of a Mean Girls style clique.
Which begs the question: are they just as
bad, if not worse than Nagatoro?
I don’t
criticize Naoto for a lack of backbone cause I doubt anyone with one could
withstand the verbal abusage of Nagatoro unscathed.
However, the end of the first episode does
see him going through what I can only describe as Stockholm Syndrome, actually
liking the attention from Nagatoro even if its far from positive.
It’s like Deku and Bakugo from early My Hero
Academia….which I guess makes Nagatoro the Bakugo in this comparison, sans the
anger issues.
Well now that I’ve given the first episode a shot, should
I continue on with Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro?
Probably not.
There are a number of cruel Anime girls with a bit more likeability for
me.
Though I guess I am a bit curious
about how these two will inevitably fall for one another and if those sudden
romantic feelings will mellow Nagatoro out a bit…I doubt it but curiosity is there.
Even if she is cute, is Nagatoro worth all
the abuse Naoto’s getting within seconds of meeting her?
Love is weird.
