Fall TV is one of my favorite times of the year. After a long, three month hiatus, all of the
TV Shows I tend to throw myself into are back in full swing and man…you never
know how much you miss Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow until
you see them again (and Arrow’s last season starts in October and Legends isn’t
even back til January…wahhhhh).
Naturally, this also means weve got a whole new season of Anime to look
forward to in the months leading to the end of 2019. A bunch of original titles are coming but
it’s the sequels and new adaptations of certain titles that have my eye, many
might seem familiar if you’ve followed this blog for a while. SO, for this weeks Top 5 Wednesday, I’m
counting down my Top 5 Most Anticipated Fall Anime. Like I said, I know most of these aren’t the
most original highlights (one will no doubt still some glares) but these are
the shows and stories im most excited to see.
#5-RWBY Vol.7
As some of you have noticed, RWBY Vol.6 has been absent
from the Anime Corner this year. There
are reasons for that and I promise I’m going to get to it (finally) sooner than
later (again finally). So why is Vol.7
on my list when I haven’t even seen Vol.6 yet?
Couple of reasons. First, it
comes out on my birthday, November 2…so yay.
And Second, the first poster unveiled at RTX 2019 shows that Ruby,
Weiss, Yang and Blake are all getting new threads and haircuts. Not to mention, theyre all charging into
battle pretty happy and insync. Maybe
that means all of the personal trials they’ve had to endure apart since Vol.3
mightve been resolved? I don’t know but
I’m also wondering if we’ll be getting any closer to an endgame goal with this
title. Is it destined to run as long as
Red vs. Blue (which just wrapped its 17th Season this summer?)
#4-Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia
Another year, another Fate title for the community to
fawn over. We’ve already gotten the
stellar second chapter of the Heaven’s Feel trilogy (see review here: http://gundamanimeblog.blogspot.com/2019/03/fatestay-night-heavens-feel-ii-lost.html)
and there was a Waver Velvet…er sorry, Lord El Melloi spin off series that came
out this summer (First Impression on that will be up in a few weeks). So what makes this particular title so
special? Well Anime adaptations of the
insanely popular Fate/Stay Night mobile game, Fate/Grand Order (or Fate GO)
have been pretty scarce. According to
the plot synopsis, this will be an adaptation of the first long running story
arc in the game. Seeing as how GO brings
nearly every character under the Fate sun into play along with new versions of
familiar characters, this will either be a fun watch or confusing as hell…or
both, probably both.
#3-Gundam Build Divers Re: Rise
I was so pumped for Gundam Build Divers in the first half
of its run. It felt like I was watching
Gundam Build Fighters all over again and experiencing the fun of a new kind of
Gunpla action all over again…then the second half happened. Things went from Build Fighters to Build
Fighters Try with one of the greatest fan communities (in the show) being
thrown into turmoil for the sake of forced conflict and action…kind of like
Build Fighters Try. I still have a lot
of love for the Build Fighters and Build Divers universes (are they separate, I
have no idea anymore), so I’m hoping that Re: Rise will pick the Build Fighters
course of feel good storytelling and stick with it without feeling the need to
get super serious for no reason. Come on
guys…that’s what you have main Gundam series for.
#2-Psycho Pass-Season 3
We’re about a month out from this one and info is kind of
scarce, though judging from the poster, we’ll be seeing a new Division of
Inspectors and Enforcers on the prowl for criminals with high crime
coefficients. Everyone, myself included,
has been hoping for a third season of Psycho Pass since Psycho Pass: The Movie
pretty much made clear that the story was far from over. We still haven’t gotten the Psycho Pass:
Sinners of the System mini trilogy stateside yet. So maybe with this continuation on the rise, we’ll
get those here as well. But im anxious
to see if these new guys can be anywhere near as good as Season One Division
(actually when they were allowed to feature, the Second Season crew wasn’t bad
either except for Shimostuki). Speaking
of, I wonder if we’ll see Akane or her old team again and what’s everyone
favorite tool/screw up Shimotsuki up to these days? Whatever your questions, Psycho Pass is back
at last, lets’ hope its worth the wait.
#1-My Hero Academia-Season 4/The Movie-Heroes Rising
Jeez I cant believe we’ve had to wait so long for
this. While the last couple of seasons
have premiered in the Spring Season, Hero Aca’s 4th Season got
mysteriously pushed back to October 2019.
There’s a crap load of new characters and intense story heading Class
1-A’s way if the Manga is any indication (and there’s a mysterious little girl
who’s looking to fully claim the spotlight of the story from everyone else
too). It also looks like we’ll be seeing
Deku teamed up with Mirio Togata, one of the members of UAs Big Three for some
mentor/student adventures. On top of
Season 4, we’ve also got the second (and final?) My Hero Academia Movie-Heroes
Rising. Can either of these new stories
match the awesome heights reached by Season Three (especially Bakugo’s
emotional breakdown during his duel with Deku?)
No matter what surprises these two stories have planned, My Hero
Academia is back and its an Anime and show in general we all need in our
lives. It’s time to go PLUS ULTRA all
over again.
