Happy New Year Dear Readers and welcome one and all, old
and new, to the Gundam Anime Corner.
This is my own little corner of the internet where I’ve been sharing my
thoughts on Anime, Video Games, Movies, Conventions and various other topics
since 2014 (well 2015 here, I started elsewhere in 2014 so it still
counts). If you’re new here,
welcome. Pull up a chair, check out a
review, Top 5 list or two and stay as long or as little as you’d like. For you returnees and long time readers,
welcome back. 2026 is shaping up to be a
big year full of long awaited titles, requests from the readers and (hopefully)
some new projects or two throughout the year.
For now though, I’ve got a nice little map of the next couple of months
including a tease of the forthcoming Twelfth Anniversary Review coming at the
end of March…that I haven’t decided yet but bare with me.
January
There’s a small list of titles I’ve been wanting to
review since I started this place back in 2014 and every year, theyre
constantly shoved down below the bottom of the pile. I finally got around to Ouran High School
Host Club a couple years back and, starting today actually, another one of
these rare ones gets to step into the Anime Corner spotlight: Samurai
Champloo. It’s the tale of two
Ronin, dead set on killing each other, who are hired by a girl to track down an
illusive “Samurai who smells of Sunflowers”.
It’s Cowboy Bebop meets Samurai Hip Hop from the master of musical
animation, Shinichiro Watanabe. There’s
also a chance that since I’m seeing it at a Gundam Double Feature soon, I’ll
have a review of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans-Urd Hunt: Path of
the Little Challenger at some point (Or might hold off on it til later in
the yar who knows).
February 2026 is going to be a little bit different. For one thing, Im not going to Katsucon this
year due to a prior obligation (plus I’ve been wanting to give Katsu a bit of a
break for personal reasons but Otakon is definitely on for August). So no Convention Reporting Top 5 this year. Also due to the aforementioned “Prior
Obligation”, scheduling still needs some fine tuning for our series of the
month. This year we’re going with
romance, lots of the color pink, and samurai kick ass action with the Anime
follow up to a personal favorite Manga of mine: Samurai Girl: Real Bout High
School. I might even do some Top 5’s
and specials about the Manga but that’s still tbd.
March is the month we close in on the blogs birthday,
March 31st. And while our main series of
the month will be the supernatural political thriller (ok?) Gasaraki,
I’m also hard at work trying to decide what title will become the 12th
Anniversary Special Review. Candidates
are plentiful, including a bunch of reviews I’ve written but haven’t found a
place to fit them into the schedule yet.
Then there’s forthcoming titles that could easily be chosen like the
full season review of the Second Season of Netflix’s One Piece
(subtitled Into the Grand Line) or the aforementioned IBO Urd Hunt
Movie. Lots to think about but I’ll
reach an exciting decision by the start of the month…hopefully lol.
As for what lies beyond in Year 13? You’ll just have to stick around to find
out. Until then, pull up a chair and get
to know the blog a little bit. Welcome
to my little slice of Otaku home, welcome, Dear Readers, to the Gundam Anime
Corner.
