T5W#565-Top 5 Favorite Reveals from Summer Game Fest 2026

2026 has had a nice showing of incredible video games like Resident Evil: Requiem and 007: First Light and we’re all waiting to see what kind of sales records Grand Theft Auto VI makes in the Fall.  But ngl, 2027 is looking to be an even bigger year for gaming if last weeks Summer Game Fest is to be believed.  From long awaited conclusions to new remasters and even some no brainer add ons to fighting rosters that should have happened forever ago, I was definitely cheering at some of these announcements.  Just how pumped am I for the games of 2027?  Let’s find out in todays Top 5 Wednesday as I share my Top 5 Favorite Reveals from Summer Game Fest 2026.

#5-Alien: Isolation 2 (About Damn Time!!!)
The original Alien: Isolation is widely regarded as one of the best games in the legendary horror franchise.  Slight spoiler alert, the game, which centered on Amanda, the daughter of series protagonist Ellen Ripley, surviving her own horrific ordeal with the titular Xenomorph, ended on a massive cliffhanger.  That was back in 2014.  That sequel is long overdue and it is coming potentially in 2027.  The scene is shifting from a space station under siege to a rainy world that’s probably another Weyland Yutani outpost.  Is Amanda still the protagonist and is she ready for Round 2 with the creatures that have dogged her Mom for decades?

#4-Double the Star Wars before the 50th Anniversary
Hard to believe but 2027 marks the 50th Anniversary of Star Wars.  As such, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the franchise is gonna go hard on releases, including a re-release of the original 1977 class (non special edition).  On the gaming front, we’ve got two games en route for later this year.  First, there’s Zero Company, a turn based tactics strategy game set during the Clone Wars with crazy customization of what kind of squad you can have at your beck and call.  Then later on, there’s Galactic Racer, which looks like the spiritual successor to the fan favorite Episode I Racer, there’s even returning Episode I baddie Sebulba.  Will we be looking at Jedi: Survivor levels of quality or Battlefront II?  The Force works in mysterious ways after all.

#3-Tifa joins Street Fighter 6
Ever since her sexy revitalized reappearance in the Final Fantasy Remake Trilogy, Final Fantasy fans have been begging the fighting game scene to include Tifa Lockhart in one of their games.  For a while, the most popular choice was Tekken 8 but they instead went with the lead from Final Fantasy XVI instead.  Well looks like the cry will be answered but not by Tekken.  No, Street Fighter has tapped the lovely hand to hand mistress to take her place on the legendary roster of warriors.  Other fighters are coming to Street Fighter 6 but Tifa’s got the biggest draw of them all.  After all, Tifa vs. Chun Li or Cammy? Now that’s a fight that might be worth picking the game up for.

#2-Final Fantasy VII: Revelation
We’ve come to it at last.  The saga that returned to us anew in more ways than one is nearing the end of it’s epic journey and a release window has been set.  In Spring 2027, Final Fantasy VII: Revelation will mark the conclusion of the FFVII Remake trilogy and they’re going out with all barrels blazing it seems.  From full world access via airship to every major character from Final Fantasy VII being playable, including Vincent and Cid, Revelation promises to be the culmination of everything that Square’s been working on through Remake and Rebirth.  Not only that, but the reveal trailer confirms that the game will launch cross platform on Day 1, so no need for a wait for those of us with an Xbox X/S to see how this all ends.  Also the first games are on X/S now too so I’ve should probably get on playing those.

#1-Code Veronica Remake Confirmed
Let me tell you I went absolutely nuts the moment I saw this trailer went live.  For years Code Veronica has been near the top of the Remakes List for Resident Evil games.  And now, only a few months after Resident Evil: Requiem dropped, we’re getting our wish…with the trailer at least.  The Veronica Reveal Trailer showed off what looks to be a new opening sequence, in First Person, of Claire Redfield searching for her brother Chris in Europe only to run into an unexpected familiar face.  Freaking frak yes, Remake Chris. The return of Claire.  Their clash with the Ashford Twins.  Is Wesker gonna show?  And are they really going to follow in Requiems steps and make this the first Remake you can play in First Person as well as Third?  Best believed Resident Evil Veronica has become my most anticipated game of 2027.
